Little Italy: Restaurants
Places to Eat
If there's one thing that you MUST do in Little Italy, it's picking up a fork and knife. Little Italy is home to some of the city's most authentic and delicious Italian delicacies that you could possibly get your hands on. Here are some places that will guarantee to make your stomach rumble.
- Lombardi's
- Located on 32 Spring Street, Lombardi's originally opened in 1905 and is known as the first Pizzeria in the United States. Gerrano Lombardi, born in Naples, started out selling slices from a grocery store during lunchtime, then later opening up the pizzeria in the same spot. This pizza was also the one that began the style of "New York" pizza, so I definitely recommend going ahead and trying the real thing.
- Ferrara Bakery and Cafe
- Ferrara's is one of New York City's most iconic bakeries. Located on 195 Grand Street, the 5th generation run establishment was opened in 1892. When coming here you are definitely going to want to get their famous Cannolis and wash it down with their hot espresso.

- Angelo's of Mulberry Street
- One Word, sauce. Seriously, I can not emphasize that word enough. The restaurant is located on 146 Mulberry Street and has been open since 1902. The old-fashioned restaurant specializes in traditional Neopolitan food and sells its sauce by the jar. If my word isn't good enough, how about President Joe Bidens? or NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryants, who have both went to eat at this establishment along with other celebrities.
