About Us

This blog is for the 2021 Summer Immigration course at Hunter College and represents our semester project. Students were given pretty free reign over what type of project they wanted to do for a semester project. By in large, they chose three kinds of projects:

1. interviews or 
2. investigating the history of a neighborhood or
3. writing a blog post focused on object as they pertain to the immigrant experience

Each assignment has separate instructions. Please visit each page for full instructions.

Pedagogically, this public blog allows students the chance to write for each other as well as for a wider audience rather than just the professor. More importantly, this site reinforces the value of students' own life experiences and voices. So often, students are relegated to reading and consuming knowledge created by others; here, they become the knowledge makers.
